Range Rules

Wellsville Rod & Gun Club Range Rules and Guidelines

  1. Please have your current membership card available when using the range. The current membership list is always posted near the main entrance of the clubhouse. Only current members and their guests are allowed to use the range.

  2. No person under the influence of alcohol or drugs are allowed to handle or discharge firearms on club property. Alcohol or drugs are not allowed on the range at any time.

  3. Eye and ear protection are recommended when shooting or in close proximity to the range.

  4. Always keep firearms pointed in a safe direction – down range.

  5. Always know your target and what is beyond your target.

  6. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to discharge the firearm.

  7. Keep the action open and the firearm unloaded until ready to shoot.

  8. Always communicate with other range users and coordinate when someone needs to move downrange.

  9. Unload, open actions and remove magazines during a cease fire or when a shooter needs to move downrange.

  10. Shoot paper targets only. Human silhouettes, metal or glass targets are prohibited.

  11. Place targets on target frames in a manner to minimize damage to the frame.

  12. Shooters should place targets to ensure that bullets impact the berm.

  13. Do not place targets high on the berm. Keep them at ground level

  14. Please pick up all spent shells, casings and used targets. Keep your range clean.

  15. Keep in mind that New York State law prohibits anyone under twelve from handling firearms.

  16. Always keep SAFETY in mind when on the range.

Don’t forget to lock the gate when you depart.

Reminder: The Wellsville High School Trap Team will be using the range on Tuesdays and Thursdays from approximately 3:00pm until 5:00pm beginning on March 28th until the end of May

The range is closed during club rentals. Most weekends during the summer the club is booked for rentals.
