In June, the Wellsville Rod & Gun Club hosted a Fly-Fishing Clinic for Beginners. The course was designed to help those wishing to get started in fly-fishing and learn the basics, or for those who wanted to improve their casting skills or knowledge of flies.
Fourteen students attended the free course that started in the clubhouse in a classroom setting.
The instructors for the course were club members Ed Czarnecki and Ken Didion, both of whom had decades of fly-fishing experience under their belts. In addition, Chas Elliott of Alfred generously volunteered his time and expertise to instruct the casting portion of the course. Chas is a Fly-Fishing International certified fly-casting instructor.
A young student receives expert casting advice from Chas Elliott, while Ken Didion assists some of the older attendees.
The Fly-Fishing clinic was a great success and the attendees expressed their appreciation for the course. Future courses will be planned based on interest.
